Fun Ideas for Rainy Days

It seems as if we’re heading into a rainy weekend, so we stuck our heads together to come up with a few suggestions on what to do for fun and avoid the doldrums. Obviously, going on a treasure hunt at your local Pawn America could be topping the list of fun things to do, right?

If you stop in at your local Pawn America, keep your eyes open for some great movies, games and CDs. Here are some ideas from our staff to get you going:

Anita from our West St. Paul store said we have lots of box sets. A rainy weekend could be perfect for catching up on your favorite series! My personal favorite would be Gilmore Girls, by the way, but there are lots of other ones. Check out Lost or Torchwood, for example.

Kristopher suggested watching the movie Dumb & Dumber. The 1994 comedy classic starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels always has a way of cheering him up. This might work for you, too.

Emily from our Fridley store said since it’s Friday 13th, any good horror movie will be perfect. Check out this list of top horror movies to get some ideas.

Paul at our Hopkins store has a whole bunch of ideas to share. Let’s start with his movie suggestions:

  •  Identity – The whole movie takes place in a downpour, so it’s a great mystery to watch on a rainy day.
  •  Garden State – Happy but melancholy, good luck exploring the infinite abyss. :)
  •  The entire extended cut of the Lord of the Rings trilogy – Paul says he can never think of a better way to waste an entire weekend, rainy or not, than by watching this trilogy.

Game suggestions:

  •  Silent Hill: Homecoming (PS3/Xbox 360) – Its effectively creepy and best played in the dark.
  •  Alan Wake (Xbox 360) – Exploring the Pacific Northwest during inclement weather with a gun and a flashlight.

And last, but not least, Paul’s CD suggestions – some good acoustic albums for rainy days:

  •  Avett Brothers – I and Love and You
  •  Sunshone Still – Dead Letters

For Chris, who works in our Fridley store, there are two other rainy day activities to enjoy that don’t have anything to do with screen time: He will spend the day baking something yummy and coloring with his kids.

So, there you have it. A few good ideas from our staff to get you started and make the best of a rainy day. If you stop in at your local Pawn America to check out what we have, don’t hesitate to ask for help with finding what you’re looking for! Have a super weekend, rain or shine!
